UNDIP, Semarang (August 5, 2025) – Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) made another mark on the international stage at the ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Summit, held August 4–5, 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia. Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri, Ph.D., was invited as one of the featured speakers.
Carrying the theme “Empowering Inclusivity and Sustainability for a Resilient Workforce,” the conference was officially opened by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YB Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahman Bin H.J. Mohamad, and attended by NIOSH Malaysia Chairman YB Tuan Chong Chieng Jen and Executive Director Dato’ Haji Ayop Salleh.
The event also featured an exhibition and drew participation from occupational safety and health professionals, government officials, researchers, industrial and organizational psychology practitioners, safety engineers, and career development experts from ASEAN countries, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In her presentation, “The Role of Leadership in Promoting an Inclusive and Adaptive Work Environment,” Prof. Sawitri discussed the strategic role of leadership in shaping inclusive and adaptive workplaces through the lens of Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). She emphasized that inclusive leadership fosters psychological safety and a sense of belonging, while adaptive leadership drives resilience and learning in the face of constant change.
She also outlined practical implications for leadership development programs to build responsive and sustainable organizational cultures.
Prof. Sawitri’s role as an invited speaker highlighted not only an academic honor but also the UNDIP’s Faculty of Psychology’s commitment to contributing to global discourse—particularly within ASEAN—on occupational safety, health, and workforce resilience.
The summit was organized by Malaysia’s National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a government agency established in 1992 with the mission of supporting industries in improving workplace safety and health. The forum has consistently served as a hub for OSH professionals, industry practitioners, and students eager to shape a safer, more inclusive, and sustainable future of work.
