UNDIP Establishes Strategic Partnership With Monash University Indonesia

UNDIP, Tangerang (August 27, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) is expanding its international network through a strategic collaboration with Monash University Indonesia. The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Monash University Indonesia campus in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City, South Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

The MoU signing was attended by UNDIP delegates, including Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Public Communication; Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Deputy Director of Global Connectivity Partnerships; and Abdul Rohman, S.Hum., Manager of the Directorate of Reputation, Partnerships, and Global Connectivity. Their presence underscored UNDIP’s commitment to expanding its international reach and ensuring the partnership is effectively implemented.

The event began with a presentation by the Director of Research at Monash University Indonesia, highlighting several collaborative projects already underway with UNDIP. In her remarks, Vice President for Research Prof. Jane M. Jacobs, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of strengthening Indonesia’s digital ecosystem, particularly in the field of cybersecurity. She said the partnership with UNDIP represents a concrete step toward supporting the nation’s digital transformation.

Wijayanto, Ph.D., echoed this view, stressing the vital role of universities in building the national digital ecosystem. He said Indonesia’s digital landscape can only improve with sustained research and innovation. “UNDIP is ready to collaborate in driving research and innovation that are not only relevant to global challenges but also deliver tangible benefits to Indonesian society,” he said.

He further noted that the MoU is not merely symbolic, but a long-term commitment. “This partnership strengthens global academic collaboration dedicated to advancing knowledge, enhancing innovation, and creating positive impact at the international level. Together with Monash University, UNDIP is opening broader opportunities in research, education, and academic exchange to help shape the future of work and society in the digital era,” he said.

Through the MoU, UNDIP and Monash University Indonesia agreed on several key areas of future collaboration, including:

  1. Joint research development on digital labor is a pressing issue amid the tech-driven transformation of the workforce.
  2. Opportunities for dual, double, or joint degree programs, particularly for doctoral students (Ph.D.), are now under further discussion.
  3. Opportunities for UNDIP lecturers to pursue doctoral studies at Monash University Indonesia.
  4. Increasing the volume of joint research and publications as part of efforts to expand international scientific contributions.
  5. Plans to send undergraduate students through the Garuda School program, which is currently being explored for further implementation.

This partnership is expected to serve as a gateway for broader cross-border collaborations in academics, research, and human resource development.
