UNDIP, Semarang (August 30, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro has expanded its academic collaboration network by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Hang Tuah Pekanbaru (UHTP). The signing took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus.
The agreement was signed by UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. and Universitas Hang Tuah Pekanbaru (UHTP) Rector, Prof. Dr. Syafrani, M.Si., with leaders from both universities in attendance, including representatives from the Faculty of Public Health and UNDIP’s Directorate of Innovation, Downstreaming, and Cooperation.
Under the partnership, UNDIP and UHTP will collaborate in education, research, community service, and other areas of mutual interest. Both institutions also opened opportunities for broader cooperation to strengthen the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, welcomed the cross-campus collaboration as a strategic step to broaden academic impact and respond to global challenges.
“We are very open to various forms of cooperation, especially with the Faculty of Public Health, and it would be excellent if this continues. UNDIP strives to uphold its tagline of being academically dignified and broadly beneficial. As it is said, the best of people are those who bring the most benefit, and so it should be for institutions. The best universities are those that can bring wide benefits to society. For that reason, we welcome every opportunity for collaboration, and the UNDIP team is ready to contribute in support,” he said.
He added that he hoped the partnership could be further detailed and expanded into other fields. “Not only in health law but also in communications and other disciplines,” Prof. Suharnomo said.

UHTP Rector Prof. Syafrani expressed appreciation and optimism about the partnership, believing the collaboration will open opportunities for broader academic networks and improve the quality of Tri Dharma at UHTP.
As a relatively young university—having only recently transformed from the merger of two health sciences colleges—UHTP now has nearly 186 faculty members, many of whom are still working toward higher qualifications. Even so, UHTP has already achieved notable milestones, including being ranked among the top three universities in Riau for A-level research and establishing STIKes Hang Tuah as a leading health institution in the region.
“This collaboration with UNDIP is expected not only to strengthen UHTP’s position in the national higher education landscape but also to motivate faculty improvement, including the number of doctoral and professor-level lecturers. Looking ahead, we aim to contribute more through human resource development and strengthening the field of health law,” Prof. Syafrani said.
The event was also attended by UNDIP leaders, including the Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and representatives of the Directorate of Innovation, Downstreaming, and Cooperation, underscoring UNDIP’s full support for strengthening networks and expanding cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The partnership is expected to translate into concrete programs such as joint activities, faculty and student exchanges, and research projects with direct impact on society.
Through this collaboration, Universitas Diponegoro reaffirmed its commitment as a world-class research university, open to partnerships with national and international institutions, to deliver innovation and make meaningful contributions to the nation. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ DHW)
