ICMI Goes to Campus Discusses Family Resilience in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

UNDIP, Semarang (July 29, 2025) – The Association of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (Ikatan Cendekiawan Muslim Indonesia / ICMI) held the ICMI Goes to Campus program at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Semarang, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. The event, themed “Family Resilience in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” took place at UNDIP’s ICT Center.

UNDIP Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Adian Fatchur Rochim, S.T., M.T., in his opening remarks, highlighted the importance of preparing younger generations for digital transformation. “We are in the midst of a major wave of digital transformation, where AI is not only changing the world but also education and the economy,” he said.

Vice-Chair of ICMI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, underscored the need for moral and mental literacy in navigating AI’s rapid development, which has already become part of daily life. She emphasized the importance of wisely filtering information and content. “If we have moral and mental strength, we can use AI appropriately to design the future,” she explained during her presentation.

The program also featured four speakers who addressed various social and educational issues in the context of family resilience. Monirah Jafar emphasized the importance of communication as the key to family harmony, sharing case studies of conflicts that arose from poor communication.

Meanwhile, Dr. Herawati Tarigan, M.M., discussed LGBT minority groups, which she argued are not aligned with Indonesian societal values, stressing the family’s role in addressing such issues. dr. Dewi Inong Irana, Sp.KK, FINSDV, FAADV, raised concerns about adolescent sexual education, calling for stronger family involvement in promoting sexual health awareness among youth.

The final speaker, Dr. Tuty Mariany, M.M., addressed the state of education and employment in Indonesia, pointing to increasingly complex economic challenges but encouraging students to persevere. “Even in the midst of a sluggish economy, continue to pursue knowledge. This era will pass, and hopefully by next year the situation will improve. Social problems can be overcome together,” she said.

Through the program, ICMI expressed hope that students would strengthen personal and family resilience in facing the challenges of the digital era while becoming positive agents of change amid ongoing social and technological shifts. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Syah Ra. Ed. Jejak Team)
