In her presentation, Komnas HAM Chairperson Anis Hidayah emphasized that medical education and health services must be grounded in human-rights principles. She explained that the rights to education and health are fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution and must be realized in a nondiscriminatory, high-quality, and equitable manner.

She also outlined Komnas HAM’s role in reviewing, monitoring, and mediating various human-rights issues, including those in the education and health sectors that are frequently reported by the public. Through a human rights-based approach, medical education is expected to produce healthcare professionals who are professional, ethical, and who uphold human dignity.
