Diponegoro University, Batang Regency – Towards the end of the Community Service Program (KKN), Diponegoro University students who took part in the Community Service Program in Batang Regency, Central Java presented the results of their work program during the Community Service program. The presentation of the work held at the PSDKU Undip Batang campus, on Wednesday morning (8/2/2023) is a form of progress report and evaluation of KKN activities. Each of the KKN teams in the Bandar sub-district, Pecalungan sub-district, and Wonotunggal sub-district demonstrated the flagship programs they had and are currently running. This flagship program is solutive in nature, which was compiled based on field surveys and mapping of problems at each KKN location.
According to Undip Vice Rector for Communication and Business, Prof. Budi Setiyono, M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D, KKN is a concrete form of Undip assisting the people of Batang Regency to transform from an agricultural area to an industrial one.
“Undip always tries to get closer to the community. The KKN program is one of Undip’s concrete forms of blending in with the community, assisting Batang Regency in its transformation from an agrarian area to an industrial area,” explained Prof. Budi when delivering his remarks.
Therefore, the KKN programs that are compiled and implemented by KKN students are programs that are really needed by the local community. Prof. Budi hopes that the assistance from Undip students can help people in the KKN area make adjustments to behavior more quickly, increase competence in the fields of education, technology, health and so on, so that they are more prepared and have high competitiveness when entering the industrial era.
The KKN program that was initiated by the Bandar sub-district KKN team included mapping the distribution of children with indications of stunting, using cigarette butts as natural pesticides, procuring floating trash bins and mentoring and introducing the Rain Water Harvesting system for water reserves. Meanwhile, the Pecalungan sub-district KKN team has educational innovation programs such as making short stories with a heroic theme to spark children’s interest in reading, utilizing livestock waste for maggot (fly larvae) cultivation, utilizing household organic waste through an eco-enzyme process and a number of other excellent programs which are composed using cultural, social, natural, and technological elements approaches. Meanwhile, the Wonotunggal sub-district KKN team has an educational program to design the concept of an ideal and comfortable village hall in the style of tropical architecture, design of a sustainable clean water system to a freshwater fish farming program.
In addition to the Vice Rector for Communication and Business and the LPPM Undip team, a number of local regional officials such as the Lurah, Camat, representatives from Bappeda, and KKN supervisors were also present during the KKN visit to Batang Regency. (Hariyani)
