DWP UNDIP Encourages Members to Learn Public Speaking

Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) held a Meeting and Talkshow titled “Confident Women: The Art of Public Speaking” on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The event took place in the Rector’s Meeting Room, UNDIP Rectorate Building. It was attended by the Chairperson of DWP UNDIP, Mrs. Dewi Suharnomo, and Speaker Dra. Frieda Nuzulia Ratna Hadiyati, M.S., Psikolog.

This meeting was the first one held in July 2024. During the event, reports on activities carried out by each unit within the organization were presented. Following that, Dra. Frieda Nuzulia Ratna Hadiyati, M.S., Psikolog, delivered a talk show discussing the importance of confidence in public speaking.

Mrs. Dewi Suharnomo, Chairperson of DWP UNDIP, emphasized the importance of skills and self-improvement for DWP members and the wives of ASN (State Civil Apparatus). She shared that the theme was chosen based on her own experience of feeling confused while leading an event in front of important people. She hopes DWP UNDIP members will have a ‘can-do attitude’ when facing challenges. “The foundation of a ‘can-do attitude’ is that we must be confident and possess extraordinary abilities within ourselves,” she explained. She added that the event should not only consist of member reports but also provide benefits to members and their families.

Dra. Frieda Nuzulia Ratna Hadiyati, M.S., Psikolog, as the speaker on the talk show, stated that confidence is critical to being able to speak in public. The talk show began with a brief questionnaire to determine the confidence levels of DWP members and provide self-awareness. She then explained essential aspects of public speaking, such as material preparation, mastery of the material, appearance, confidence, and etiquette in public speaking. “Confidence is not just for oneself, but for everyone who has made our lives colorful,” she concluded.

The event also included Chairperson Mrs. Dewi Suharnomo handing over decrees for RSND Board Members for the 2024-2029 term and a presentation with material on breast cancer risk awareness. The Director of RSND also provided 100 mammography vouchers to attending members.
