UNDIP Community Service Students Prepare Jagan Village to Go Digital

Jagan, July 22, 2024 – A Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) student from Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Maria Fransiska Br Simbolon from the Management study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, along with her team, conducted training with the Jagan Village officials on optimizing creative content on Instagram for village branding and promotion. This training was held at the Jagan Village Hall, Bendosari District, Sukoharjo Regency, targeting mainly the admin or manager of the Instagram account @pemdes_jagan on Monday (22/07/2024).

The goal of this activity is to enhance the village officials’ ability to manage social media so that they can maximize Jagan Village’s promotional and branding potential through the Instagram platform.

During the training, KKN students provided guidelines on the importance of Instagram as a social media platform and the steps involved in branding, including research and observation, creating engaging content, promotion and collaboration, and monitoring and evaluation. Siska also taught the use of Instagram features and Canva as a design tool and offered tips for increasing audience engagement.

Teguh Prasetyo, the manager of the Instagram account @pemdes_jagan, greatly appreciated this program. According to him, guidance on managing social media is highly needed for branding Jagan Village, especially since Jagan Village currently needs a guidebook on social media management. “Thank you, Ms. Siska, for conducting this training. This guide is handy for us when managing the Instagram account @pemdes_jagan. We are also very pleased that this program was implemented early in the KKN period, so there is still time if we have further questions,” said Prasetyo.

The training was followed by the symbolic handover of the booklet “Guidelines for Instagram Social Media Branding for Jagan Village” to Mariyo, the Head of Jagan Village, on Wednesday (24/07/2024).

Siska, a KKN Undip student, hopes that through this training, Jagan Village will become more recognized and attract tourists and investors. She is also ready to assist village officials if there are any issues or further questions regarding social media management during the KKN period.

With this training program, Jagan Village hopes to continue growing and becoming more widely known through digital platforms, particularly Instagram. This effort is part of the contribution of KKN Undip students to helping to develop the potential of villages in Indonesia through the use of technology and social media.
