Bumiharjo (01/08/2024)—As business competition continues to intensify, entrepreneurs are required to constantly develop their businesses. One crucial aspect that needs attention is having clear business legality. In Indonesia, one form of business legality is the Business Identification Number (Nomor Induk Berusaha / NIB).
The NIB plays a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises). However, awareness of the importance of the NIB needs to be improved among MSMEs, especially in rural areas. This situation motivated Anita Chandra Devi, a student from the Business Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Diponegoro University, to conduct an awareness program on the importance of having a NIB for MSME actors in Bumiharjo Village, Nguntoronadi District, Wonogiri Regency, as part of her program in the Diponegoro University Community Service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) Team II in the 2023/2024 academic year.
The awareness program provided a comprehensive understanding of the NIB, including its definition, the institution that issues it, its form, and its functions and benefits. Participants also received information on the data required for NIB registration and the necessary supporting documents. Additionally, a step-by-step guide to self-registering for a NIB was provided, along with examples of NIBs.
This program was implemented at two MSME locations in Bumiharjo Village: a satay skewer business in Tukluk Sub-Village and a brem (fermented rice cake) business in Melikan Sub-Village. The outcome of the program was a booklet containing materials to help MSME actors understand the NIB’s significance for their businesses.
The program received positive feedback from the participants, including an MSME operator from Melikan Sub-Village. They stated that the information provided was highly beneficial and could have a positive impact on the business climate in the sub-village. This initiative is expected to help MSMEs open new opportunities and grow more effectively. By having an NIB, MSMEs can contribute to Indonesia’s national economy. (Anita)
