UNDIP, Semarang (Thursday, January 9, 2025) – The Faculty of Law at Universitas Diponegoro (FH UNDIP) organized one of the events in celebration of its 68th Anniversary through a Scientific Oration themed “Building a New Governance Framework Toward Golden Indonesia 2045.” The event took place in the Fiat Justicia Room, Samiadji Soerjotjaroko, S.H. Building, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Law UNDIP, Tembalang.
The 68th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law UNDIP served as a platform for presenting innovative and practical ideas for advancing governance, aligning with the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Faculty of Law UNDIP remains committed to being a pioneer in producing research and academic thought that addresses national development needs.
The Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., delivered a speech and officially opened the Scientific Oration for the 68th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law UNDIP.
“I believe no one doubts the quality of the Faculty of Law UNDIP. Its alumni, such as Prof. Dr. H. Muladi, S.H.; Prof. Satjipto Rahardjo; and Prof. Dr. Nyoman Serikat Putra Jaya, S.H., M.H., among others, have made extraordinary contributions. Likewise, the achievements of its students prove that the Faculty of Law UNDIP deserves to be a role model and a source of pride,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
The UNDIP Rector emphasized the importance of meaningful knowledge as motivation and hope for educators to serve with dedication and bring blessings to life.
In closing, Prof. Suharnomo highlighted that the Anniversary is not only a celebration of past achievements but also an opportunity for reflection and self-critique to aim for remarkable future accomplishments. “Through this forum, I hope the spirit of Faculty of Law UNDIP spreads across all faculties, and Universitas Diponegoro continues to excel and lead,” he stated.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Retno Saraswati, S.H., M.Hum., in her remarks, underscored the significance of the Anniversary as a moment for reflection and evaluation of the academic and institutional contributions of the Faculty of Law UNDIP toward national development.
“Happy 68th Anniversary to the Faculty of Law UNDIP. May it continue to bring benefits and excellence. This aligns with the Rector’s tagline, which is reflected in various activities at the Faculty of Law UNDIP. Noble signifies discipline and providing the best guidance and service. Valuable means that institutions and communities across Indonesia utilize many Faculty of Law UNDIP’s expertise,” said Prof. Retno.
She added, “The tagline ‘Jaya dan Juara’ is evident in various achievements. Faculty of Law UNDIP has proudly ranked 351st globally in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject in 2024. Nationally, it is ranked 6th. Achieving this requires hard work, supported by comfortable and adequate facilities for the academic community,” the Dean explained.
The Scientific Oration featured two distinguished academics as speakers who provided fresh insights into governance and indigenous election systems:
- Aju Putrijanti, S.H., M.Hum., presented her oration titled “The Role of Administrative Courts in Improving Governance.” She elaborated on the strategic role of administrative courts, which have absolute competence in resolving administrative disputes and supporting good governance in Indonesia.
- Sri Wahyu Ananingsih, S.H., M.Hum., delivered an oration titled “The Noken System: Customary Law-Based Voting Between Existence and Efforts to Ensure Quality Elections.” She discussed the unique Noken System implemented in Papua, particularly in Central Papua and Papua Highlands. She highlighted how customary law-based voting is conducted using the Noken as a ballot box substitute and the challenges in achieving quality elections through this approach.
The scientific oration was part of the Faculty of Law UNDIP’s contribution to fostering high-quality academic discussions and enriching public understanding of various legal issues, including governance and electoral diversity in Indonesia.
Through its 68th Anniversary, the Faculty of Law UNDIP continues to strengthen its role in advancing legal knowledge and contributing to addressing Indonesia’s legal and social challenges. (DHW)
