UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine Strengthens Commitment to a Safe, Professional, and Impactful Academic Culture

UNDIP, Semarang (July 17, 2025) – The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP) held an Orientation Program for New Students (PKKMB) for the Specialist and Subspecialist Medical Education Programs on Tuesday (July 8, 2025), at the Multipurpose Hall, Building A, Faculty of Medicine UNDIP, Tembalang, Semarang.

The orientation was attended by all new students enrolled in various specialist and subspecialist medical education programs at the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP. The primary goal of the event was to introduce students to the university’s academic values, campus culture, educational systems, and the challenges and opportunities they may face during advanced clinical education at teaching hospitals.

In his opening remarks, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed hope that the specialist and subspecialist students (PPDS and PPDSS) at the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP would continuously uphold professionalism. He encouraged students to study earnestly, excel in their fields, and become sources of inspiration. “Beyond scientific knowledge, I hope we remain committed to offering solutions that create real impact for society,” Prof. Suharnomo stated.

Delivering the keynote speech, Chief Prosecutor at Jawa Tengah Office Dr. Hendro Dewanto, S.H., M.Hum., shared an inspiring message on the importance of fostering a safe and professional educational environment for students.

Dr. Hendro noted that violence in educational settings remains prevalent in Indonesia, though similar issues also affect other sectors. To eliminate violence from education, he called on UNDIP and the broader academic community to play an active role through measures such as environmental monitoring and the establishment of counseling units. Hospitals, universities, consultants, and doctors must work in synergy, he emphasized.

“Reporting abuse is the first step in breaking the chain of violence. Don’t wait until another person becomes a victim,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K) encouraged new students to embrace the spirit of learning, uphold medical ethics, and uphold the university’s values throughout their education. “Be part of an impactful educational journey in line with the Rector’s vision: A Noble and Valuable UNDIP,” he said.

Through collaboration between the medical field and law enforcement, represented by the Jawa Tengah Prosecutor’s Office, UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine reaffirms its commitment to producing graduates who are not only clinically competent but also strong, ready to face the dynamic challenges of the national healthcare system.
