UNDIP Civil Engineering Doctoral Program Graduates 100th Doctor, Reinforces Commitment to Sustainable Infrastructure Development

The Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has officially graduated its 100th doctoral degree holder since its establishment, further strengthening UNDIP’s reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading centers for education and research in civil engineering.

The 100th doctorate was awarded to Dr. Ir. Christina Sari, S.Pd., M.T., a scholar from Universitas Trisakti. She successfully defended her dissertation titled “Passenger Travel Pattern Characteristics Based on Typology in Transit Station Areas” in an open examination. Her research highlights passenger mobility patterns in transit station areas, considered highly relevant to urban transportation issues, the efficiency of public transport systems, and sustainable development.

Ilham Nurhuda, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., chaired the open defense. The dissertation committee included UNDIP and external experts: Dr. Ir. Ismiyati, M.S. (promoter), Prof. Dr. Ir. Mudjiastuti Handajani, M.T. (co-promoter 1), Dr. Yudi Basuki, S.T., M.T. (co-promoter 2), as well as external examiners Dr. Ir. Bambang Riyanto, DEA, and Ir. Probo Hardini, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.

Christina described her doctoral journey at UNDIP as both challenging and deeply rewarding. “I gained knowledge, guidance, and valuable insights from my promoters, lecturers, and a supportive academic environment. This long process shaped perseverance, integrity, and academic responsibility, while also training critical thinking. I am grateful to have completed my studies at a campus that is both a center of scientific advancement and an intellectual home fostering a commitment to contribute to sustainable development,” she said.

Ilham Nurhuda, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Head of UNDIP’s Civil Engineering Doctoral Program, noted that the 100th doctoral milestone reflects the university’s consistency in producing high-quality graduates. “This achievement demonstrates our commitment to advancing science, research, and innovation in civil engineering. We hope our doctoral alumni will serve as agents of change in national development, particularly in sustainable infrastructure,” he said.

Prof. Ir. Jati Utomo Dwi Hatmoko, S.T., M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Civil Engineering Department at UNDIP, added that the milestone strengthens UNDIP’s position nationally and internationally. “UNDIP consistently produces excellent human resources capable of competing globally. We continue to promote applied research that addresses national challenges, from transportation and energy to sustainable development,” he said.

With the graduation of its 100th doctoral degree holder, UNDIP’s Civil Engineering Doctoral Program reaffirms its role as an intellectual home that nurtures scientists, researchers, and practitioners ready to make fundamental contributions to the nation’s progress. (Public Communication/ UNDIP-FT/ DITS Team)
