UNDIP Students Win International Award at SDGs Innovation Forum GDPPYI 2025 Supported by FAO – United Nations in Beijing and Xi’an, China

UNDIP, Semarang (August 5, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro students, Trimita Ari Pratiwi and I Kadek Hari Kesuma, from the Food Technology Program, once again brought pride to Indonesia on the international stage. Under the guidance of Yoga Pratama, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D., they were selected as Indonesian delegates at the SDG Youth Public Policy Innovation Challenge: Food Security and Poverty Alleviation, held July 20–27, 2025, in Beijing and Xi’an, China.

The event was part of the Global Development Public Policy Youth Innovation Contest (GDPPYI), which featured 15 finalist teams out of 384 submissions from 55 countries. Organized by the UNITAR SDGs Singapore Center and SFI U.S., and supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the forum served as a strategic platform for young people worldwide to develop innovative public policies on food security and poverty alleviation.

Trimita and Kadek presented an innovation titled “HERO OIL,” which utilizes black soldier fly larvae as a community-based alternative cooking oil, incorporating the Global Gotong Royong Tetrapreneurship (G2RT) framework and circular economy principles. Their innovation won two prestigious awards: Best Poster and Honorable Proposal.

The program also included field research, discussion forums, and cultural visits across several regions in China. Their participation underscored the strategic role of Indonesian youth in public policy diplomacy and in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while inspiring other young generations to innovate for a sustainable future.

“The achievements of Trimita and Kadek are a source of pride and serve as inspiration and motivation for other students to excel and compete at national and international levels,” said Prof. Sugiharto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, UNDIP.

“The participation of these two students in the global competition demonstrates the concern of younger generations in supporting the government’s efforts in food security and poverty alleviation through innovative, beneficial, and sustainable products,” Prof. Sugiharto added.
