UNDIP’s “Forenbang” 2026: Toward a Transformative World-Class Campus With Impactful Research

UNDIP, Semarang (September 4, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held its 2026 Planning and Development Forum (Forum Perencanaan dan Pengembangan / Forenbang) on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang campus. The Rector, Vice-Rectors, Deans of faculties and schools, the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Chair of the Academic Senate, institutional leaders, directors, and heads of agencies and offices within the university, attended the event.

Carrying the theme “Transformative Campus: Enhancing the Quality of Education and Impactful Research”, this year’s forum is part of the implementation of UNDIP’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. The period marks the consolidation phase toward becoming a World-Class University (WCU), followed by phases of actualization and global recognition over the next two decades.

Head of UNDIP’s Planning and Development Agency (Badan Perencanaan dan Pengembangan / BPP), Prof. Dr. Ir. Purwanto, DEA, said the university has set a vision to become a leading research university in its 2025–2029 strategic plan. That vision is translated into 32 key performance indicators (KPIs) to support the development of WCU as a research university and a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH). “These indicators are interconnected, and all are designed to ensure UNDIP achieves its strategic targets,” he said.

Prof. Purwanto added that prior to the main forum, a series of pre-Forenbang sessions involving various departments had been conducted to align program planning and budgeting across all units. This process, he said, strengthens synergy in implementing priority programs and preparing annual work plans.

In his opening remarks, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed appreciation to the Planning and Development Agency for organizing the forum in a structured manner. He also emphasized the importance of commitment from all participants in carrying out tasks in line with the KPIs. “I thank Prof. Pur and the BPP team for organizing this forum so well. All of us here must also fulfill our duties within the KPIs, as explained earlier,” he said.

The Rector also highlighted UNDIP’s positive trend in international rankings. UNDIP currently ranks 8th nationally and 624th globally in the QS World University Rankings. In several fields of study, such as law and management, UNDIP is ranked among the world’s top 500 institutions. “We should appreciate UNDIP’s achievements so far. From this year through 2026, our target is to ensure physical facilities are more than adequate while boosting supporting facilities such as laboratories,” he added.

Beyond academic achievements, campus transformation also focuses on physical development. UNDIP continues to strengthen its infrastructure for learning and research, including the development of laboratories across faculties and the redesign of the campus environment to be more representative and environmentally friendly.

As part of the forum, the event continued with an open discussion led by the Head of BPP. This session provided an opportunity for all stakeholders to provide input and respond to the policies presented. Each department delivered presentations, followed by feedback from the chair of the Board of Trustees, the Chair of the Academic Senate, and the Deans, who shared strategic perspectives from their respective units.

With a focused policy direction and commitment from the entire university community, UNDIP continues to advance as a transformative campus oriented toward impact and global competitiveness. The spirit of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP” remains the foundation of its journey toward becoming a world-class university. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Hanang)
