UNDIP Rector Welcomes 2025 KNB Scholarship Awardees

UNDIP, Semarang (August 28, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) reaffirmed its standing as a world-class university by welcoming the 2025 recipients of the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) or Developing Country Partnership Scholarship during a ceremony held at the Rectorate Hall, Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The scholarship recipients from various countries are now officially part of the UNDIP community, pursuing higher education while strengthening global academic networks.

During the event, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his pride and appreciation for this year’s KNB awardees. “As of today, you are all part of the UNDIP family. We hope you can quickly adapt, enjoy the learning environment, and contribute to the development of knowledge at UNDIP,” he said.

Prof. Suharnomo also introduced UNDIP’s new tagline, “Noble and Valuable,” which reflects the university’s commitment to fostering excellence in research, maintaining good governance, and making a meaningful impact on the nation and the global community.

“Noble means our continuous pursuit of academic and research excellence with integrity, while Valuable underscores UNDIP’s determination to become a solution to societal challenges both nationally and internationally,” the Rector added.

This year, UNDIP welcomed KNB students from various countries and academic programs, including:

  1. Siloh Kasawala from Zimbabwe (Bachelor’s in Urban and Regional Planning)
  2. Arbit Tuengah from Thailand (Master’s in Political Science)
  3. Huzairu Kanamwangi from Uganda (Master’s in Business Administration)
  4. Ankit Raj from India (Master’s in Accounting)
  5. Rahmatullah Nazari from Afghanistan (Master’s in Health Promotion)
  6. Aera Kokoria from Kiribati (Master’s in Environmental Engineering)
  7. Buruhan Haji Shame from Tanzania (Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering)

These KNB students are expected not only to enrich UNDIP’s academic dynamics but also to foster cross-cultural and international friendships. Interaction with local and international students will create a collaborative environment and serve as a tangible step toward realizing UNDIP’s vision as a World-Class Research University.

The welcoming ceremony was also attended by leaders of UNDIP’s Directorate of Reputation, Partnerships and Global Connectivity, including Director, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., accompanied by Deputy Director for Global Connectivity Partnerships, Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M.; Administrative Manager, Abdul Rohman, S.Hum. and Global Partnerships and Connectivity Supervisor, Anton Bowo Wicaksono, S.Hum.

Their presence underscored the support from the Directorate of Reputation, Partnerships and Global Connectivity in enhancing UNDIP’s international reputation and networks. Moreover, they ensure that KNB awardees receive guidance, services, and the best academic experience throughout their studies at the university.

With renewed enthusiasm, UNDIP is committed to supporting KNB students in completing their studies on time, contributing to research, and bringing home valuable experiences to help build their home countries. “We want KNB fellows to become agents of change who can address global challenges while serving as ambassadors of international friendship,” Prof. Suharnomo concluded.
