UNDIP, Parit Rambutan, Ogan Ilir (November 13, 2025) – A team from Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, S.T., M.T., MPS as the Person in Charge (PIC) of the Patriot Transmigration Program, Prof. Dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto as the PIC of the Patriot Expedition Program, and Prof. Dr. Walter Timo de Vries from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, took part in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Planning Dialogue: Evaluation of the Development of the Parit Rambutan Transmigration Area” at the Office of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Team of Ogan Ilir Regency, Sumatera Selatan.
This activity was part of the monitoring and evaluation series for UNDIP’s Patriot Transmigration Program, which aimed to assess current conditions and development directions in the Ogan Ilir Transmigration Area. The FGD involved representatives from the local government, village officials, and transmigrant communities as a collaborative effort to formulate strategic recommendations for strengthening development in transmigration areas.
Prof. Wiwandari Handayani emphasized the importance of such evaluations better to understand the challenges and potentials of each transmigration area. “This activity is part of UNDIP’s active engagement with the Ministry of Transmigration in strengthening academic collaboration to support the development of transmigration areas across Indonesia,” she stated.
The UNDIP team, together with Prof. Walter Timo de Vries from TUM, conducted a field visit to the home of Willy Ahmad Yan, the Village Head of Sungai Rambutan, to discuss the current situation in the local transmigration area. During the meeting, the team addressed various community concerns, particularly those related to land status and administrative boundary disputes between Ogan Ilir Regency and Muara Enim Regency, located in the northern part of the Parit Rambutan Self-Sufficient Transmigration Area (KTM/Kawasan Transmigrasi Mandiri). The land in the northern area, initially designated as Business Land (LU / Lahan Usaha) for transmigrants, has now been claimed as part of Muara Enim Regency. Consequently, residents of Settlement Unit 2 (SP2) have yet to receive their Second Business Land (LU2), while in Settlement Units 1 (SP1) and 3 (SP3), several households remain without land ownership rights or Land Title Certificates (SHM).
The monitoring activity also involved the UNDIP Patriot Expedition Team, led by Prof. Dr.sc.agr. Iwan Rudiarto, S.T., M.Sc., with team members:
- Ahmad Muzaki Khoiruman (Student, Faculty of Science and Mathematics – Biology)
- Deviasri Triyana (Alumna, Faculty of Engineering – Urban and Regional Planning)
- Faradita Cindy Larasati (Student, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences – Agroecotechnology)
- Hadi Wirayudha (Graduate Student, Faculty of Engineering – Urban and Regional Planning)
This monitoring aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), which aims to enhance the welfare and economic independence of transmigrant communities, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), which promotes balanced regional development through transmigration; and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): Establishing livable and sustainable transmigration areas.
