UNDIP, Semarang (November 7, 2025) – The Faculty of Public Health served as the host of the 16th National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Association of Public Health Higher Education Institutions (AIPTKMI), Central Region I – Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro, Dr. Budiyono, SKM., M.Kes. The meeting, held from October 29 to November 1, 2025, was attended by 228 participants and involved approximately 15 speakers from various experts, practitioners, and academics.
The series of activities began with a Pre-Meeting Workshop featuring seven (7) types of training to support academic activities, including training on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum development, preparation and evaluation of RPL Type A, Reproductive Health in Disaster Situations, Productive Scientific Writing Using AI, Policy Brief development, New Instrument Accreditation, and a workshop on the WHO Health Equity Assessment Tools (HEAT).
On this occasion, the Indonesia Public Health Olympiad (IPHO) also held competitions in public health, including Health Program Planning, Health Information System (SIK) Design, Public Health Entrepreneurship Innovation, the Creative “Germas Gymnastics” Jingle & Movie Festival, Policy Brief, and the Pilmakesmaspres competition. The competition was attended by 214 teams, comprising 590 undergraduate and master’s students from 44 universities across 20 provinces in Indonesia.
The series of activities concluded with the National Working Meeting, held on November 1, 2025, at The Wujil Resort & Conventions, under the theme “The Role of Public Health Professionals in Supporting Asta Cita: Strengthening Sustainable Promotive and Preventive Strategies Toward Golden Indonesia.”
At the meeting, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, attended as the keynote speaker. Speakers from various institutions were also present, including the Human Resources for Health Division of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the Deputy for Strategic Policy of the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemdukbangga/BKKBN), the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Tohoku University, UNFPA, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and the Deputy for Family Health of the Ministry of Health. The plenary session was also attended by experts and academics discussing the progress of the public health profession, and it concluded with the AIPTKMI National Working Meeting.
In his presentation, the Minister of Health stated that the Ministry of Health supports the establishment of professional education in public health and emphasized that, in the future, the public health profession will be designated as a functional position. This functional public health position will no longer be differentiated into epidemiology personnel, health promotion officers, health administration staff, and others.
This statement was reinforced by the Director General of Health Human Resources of the Ministry of Health, dr. Yuli Farianti, M.Epid., stated that the Ministry of Health will proceed with policies to unify functional positions for public health personnel.
This series of activities is expected to serve as a platform for higher education leaders to strengthen the role of public health experts in supporting the Asta Cita, as envisioned by the President. The improvement of Human Resources (HR) is the 4th Asta Cita, specifically aimed at strengthening human resource development, which includes science, technology, education, health, sports achievements, gender equality, and the empowerment of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
