UNDIP Deploys 2,102 KKN Students, Rector Emphasizes Ethics, Safety, and Social Impact

UNDIP, Semarang (January 6, 2026) – Universitas Diponegoro officially deployed 2,102 students participating in Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) Team I for the 2025/2026 Academic Year in a solemn ceremony held at the Muladi Dome Multipurpose Hall, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The event marked the beginning of UNDIP students’ community service in various assignment areas as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

The send-off was led by the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who symbolically launched the program by placing KKN caps on student representatives and pressing the siren to mark the official start of KKN Team I. The departure was also symbolized by the release of five vehicles, each carrying 10 students. In total, the 2026 Regular KKN Team I deployed 100 vehicles to service locations.

In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that KKN students serve as ambassadors of Universitas Diponegoro within local communities. Their attitudes, behavior, and contributions during KKN will reflect the image of UNDIP. Therefore, students are expected to uphold ethics, character, and personal safety, respect local culture and wisdom, and foster healthy, respectful relationships with local communities.

“Wherever your feet step, there you must uphold the sky above you. Present UNDIP as a noble and valuable university through real actions rooted in empathy and responsibility. When students return, and the community misses their presence, that is when the true meaning of KKN is realized,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

He further stressed that KKN is not merely an academic requirement, but a space for applying knowledge and service grounded in sincere intentions to benefit others. He reminded students to avoid behaviors that could trigger social issues and to maintain communication with field supervisors and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) when encountering challenges, so that problems can be addressed promptly and appropriately.

Meanwhile, the Head of UNDIP’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Suherman, S.T., M.T., reported that KKN Team I for the 2025/2026 Academic Year will run from January 6 to February 10, 2026. The program involves 2,102 students from various faculties: 1,200 in Thematic KKN, organized into 45 teams across 14 regencies/cities, and 902 in Regular KKN, divided into 100 teams across five regencies. All KKN locations span dozens of sub-districts and villages in Central Java and surrounding areas.

For Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T), students will serve in 14 regencies/cities: Jepara, Demak, Kendal, Batang, Semarang, Magelang, Purworejo, Boyolali, Klaten, Sukoharjo, Wonogiri, as well as Pekalongan City, Salatiga City, and Semarang City. Regular KKN will take place in five regencies: Batang, Pekalongan, Klaten, Sragen, and Wonogiri.

Prof. Suherman added that all KKN Team I activities are aligned with UNDIP’s strategic program titled Local Resource Empowerment to support poverty alleviation, sustainable food security, and disaster mitigation and management. The implementation of KKN is supported by trained field supervisors who have undergone preparation through the KKN Lecturer School, enabling students to conduct service activities in a directed, collaborative, sustainable manner and to deliver tangible benefits to communities.

The send-off ceremony was attended by university leaders, faculty and institutional heads, and field supervisors. Through KKN, Universitas Diponegoro continues to affirm its commitment as a higher education institution oriented toward service, usefulness, and tangible contributions to community development.
