UNDIP Encourages Student Organizations as a Platform for Character Development

UNDIP, Semarang (6/3) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), through the Consultation, Disability, Discipline Enforcement, and Student Ethics Service Unit (LKDPDEM UNDIP), held a Socialization Program on the Student Character and Skills Assessment Matrix on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Hall, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNDIP Tembalang Campus.

The activity aimed to strengthen the role of student organizations in shaping character, developing skills, and implementing a structured and sustainable assessment system. The event was attended by 250 students representing various student organizations within UNDIP. The speakers included Ir. Daud Samsudewa, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., IPM., Dr. Nuswantoro Dwiwarno, S.H., M.H., and Oki Ade Putra, M.Si.

In his remarks, the Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Edy Surahmat, S.Pd., M.Si., emphasized that character development is not a one-time or short-term process, but rather requires consistency and continuity. “Character building for students does not only take place during the initial PKKMB (Student Orientation Program), but will be carried out continuously every semester,” he said.

The socialization materials were delivered in several sessions. The first session, presented by Ir. Daud Samsudewa, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., discussed the theme “PENDIKAR PACTA JUARA Program,” emphasizing that individuals should possess the “PACTA JUARA” character—Caring, Adaptive, Intelligent, Resilient, Honest, Fair, Courageous, and Ethical.

“Higher education is a place where one’s character is formed,” he stated.

The next session was delivered by Dr. Nuswantoro Dwiwarno, S.H., M.H., on “The Role of Student Organizations in Shaping Character and Skills.” He highlighted that participation in student activity units (UKM) or student organizations plays a crucial role in developing both character and skills. “Join UKM or student organizations, because this is where character and skills are built. Step out of your comfort zone of just attending classes and going home,” he encouraged.

The final session, presented by Oki Ade Putra, M.Si., focused on the “Systematics of Filling in Character and Skills Assessment Data.” He explained the procedures for inputting assessment data, which is introduced to students during the early stages of the PKKMB program.

Through this initiative, UNDIP reinforces its commitment to positioning student organizations as an integral platform for holistic student development, not only academically but also in terms of character and practical skills. (Public Communication/UNDIP/AKS ed. As3)
