Ensuring Traffic Safety at UNDIP Tembalang Campus, UPT K3L Conducts Direct Review of One-Way Traffic Compliance

UNDIP, Semarang (10/4) – The Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Technical Implementation Unit (UPT K3L) of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) officially conducted a One-Way Traffic Review on Friday, April 10, 2026. Held in front of the Dipohub Building starting at 08:00 AM, the activity focused on observing compliance with one-way traffic regulations by motorcycle and car drivers. This initiative is part of the university’s systematic efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic management in ensuring the safety of all members of the academic community.

This review was driven by the urgency to mitigate traffic accident risks, which often occur due to low driving discipline within the campus area. Through direct observation, the UPT K3L team identified a tendency of traffic violations that could disrupt internal mobility stability. Therefore, this step also serves as an educational instrument for road users to prioritize safety over personal convenience while driving.

Head of UPT K3L UNDIP, Dr. Bina Kurniawan, S.KM., M.Kes., stated that strong rector regulations within the university support the enforcement. “This activity is supported by Rector Regulation No. 18 of 2025 on the K3L Management Vision, which follows up on Rector Circular Letter No. 15 of 2023 on Traffic Order,” he explained.

During the activity, Dr. Bina noted that the Dipohub area is a hotspot for violations. Therefore, the review will be expanded to other locations such as the FPP Cow Statue area, the route from FISIP to Civil Engineering, and the FPIK intersection, all of which have been designated as one-way routes. He added that within the next week, the university will prioritize educational measures. However, after this period, administrative sanctions will be imposed, including recording identities, confiscating student ID cards (KTM) for students, and ID cards (KTP or institutional IDs) for lecturers and staff, and reporting them to their respective unit leaders.

Furthermore, Dr. Bina emphasized that instilling a culture of traffic discipline reflects the integrity of campus members in maintaining UNDIP as a shared home. “We hope everyone will obey traffic rules, even within the campus. The campus is like a big home for us. Even internally, discipline is necessary because many accidents occur due to reckless driving, violating one-way rules, speeding, not wearing helmets, or carrying triple passengers,” he stated.

As a strategic step to strengthen public safety management, UPT K3L plans to launch the UNDIP Traffic Discipline Campus Movement at the end of May 2026. This initiative represents not only improvements in transportation infrastructure but also a collective effort to build a culture of discipline to ensure the safety and comfort of the academic community. Through this commitment, Universitas Diponegoro aims to contribute broadly to public welfare as part of its vision of noble and valuable UNDIP. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Riri)
