UNDIP, Semarang (15/4) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to expand its international network by strengthening academic collaboration with Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, a leading public research university in Bursa, Türkiye. This collaboration was marked by a delegation meeting between the two institutions and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Widya Puraya, UNDIP, Semarang.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., accompanied by the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Public Communication, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., welcomed the delegation from Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, including Prof. Dr. Kadir Çavdar, Head of the Sub-Department of Construction and Production (Mechanical Engineering), and David Setiadhi, Ph.D., an Indonesian student currently pursuing studies at Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi.
This partnership focuses on developing the Tridharma of higher education, particularly in education and research. In the academic sector, UNDIP has established numerous collaborations with educational institutions and industry to produce graduates who are adaptable and ready for the workforce.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, expressed strong support for this collaboration, which also strengthens bilateral relations between Indonesia and Türkiye. Both institutions agreed to develop postgraduate programs (Master’s and Doctoral levels) through collaborative schemes, including joint programs, joint supervision, and postgraduate student exchanges.
Prof. Suharnomo stated, “UNDIP already offers double degree programs through the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), where students earn degrees from both UNDIP and partner universities abroad. Through this collaboration, we can further enhance joint academic research involving researchers as well as master’s and doctoral students from UNDIP and Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi.”
Prof. Dr. Kadir Çavdar, Head of the Sub-Department of Construction and Production of the Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, added that his institution is ready to implement joint research initiatives. He explained that undergraduate teaching at Bursa Uludağ University uses 70% Turkish and 30% English. At the same time, postgraduate programs (Master’s and PhD) are conducted more flexibly in English in collaboration with respective research supervisors.
Bursa Uludağ University is ranked as the top university in Microbiology in Türkiye, Top 3 in Medicine, and Top 10 in Religious Studies. Their achievement makes them a strategic partner for UNDIP, one of Indonesia’s leading research universities, particularly in education and research.
Through the signing of this MoU, both parties are committed to translating the agreement into measurable and impactful programs aimed at enhancing the quality of education, contributing at the international level, and strengthening their path toward becoming World-Class Universities.
