UNDIP, Paris (8/9) – On September 7–8, 2026, a delegation from Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), led by UNDIP Vice Rector IV, Wijayanto, Ph.D., held a series of strategic meetings at Sciences Po in Paris, one of the world’s leading higher education and research institutions in the fields of social sciences, politics, law, and international relations.
The strategic position of Sciences Po in the global higher education landscape is also reflected in its international rankings. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, Sciences Po ranks third in the world for Politics, behind Harvard University and the University of Oxford. Sciences Po has also maintained its position as the top university in the European Union for Politics for eleven consecutive years. This achievement further reinforces Sciences Po’s standing as one of the world’s leading centers for political education and research.
UNDIP’s visit to Sciences Po was part of the university’s efforts to expand its international network with world-class academic partners, strengthen global research collaboration, and create academic mobility opportunities for faculty members and students.
One of the key agendas of the visit was a meeting with Prof. Jeremy Perelman, Vice President for International Affairs at Sciences Po. In his capacity as Vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Perelman plays a strategic role in developing global partnerships, international networks, and institutional cooperation strategies at Sciences Po.
The Vice Rector said the meeting discussed various opportunities for cooperation between UNDIP and Sciences Po, particularly in research collaboration, joint publications, joint supervision, staff and faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and the development of international academic mobility.
“In addition, we discussed opportunities for UNDIP lecturers to pursue doctoral studies at Sciences Po with support from LPDP scholarships. The cooperation could also be developed through joint supervision or co-supervision schemes, particularly for doctoral students, which would strengthen academic supervision and research networks between UNDIP and Sciences Po,” he added.
The UNDIP delegation also met with Stéphane Lacroix, a Sciences Po academic whose expertise focuses on politics and religion in the Muslim world. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore the development of international research collaboration, particularly in areas where UNDIP and Sciences Po have strong academic expertise.
In addition, the UNDIP delegation met with Stéphanie Balme, Director of the Centre de recherches internationales (CERI), one of Sciences Po’s prominent research centers. The meeting created opportunities to explore potential research cooperation between UNDIP and CERI, including joint research projects, joint publications, academic seminars, and expanded researcher networks.
The series of meetings also strengthened UNDIP’s connections with the academic community focused on Southeast Asia through discussions with David Camroux, an academic and researcher with extensive experience in Southeast Asian politics and international relations. The meeting opened opportunities to strengthen academic collaboration on political developments, democracy, and regional dynamics.
Beyond institutional and research cooperation, the UNDIP visit to Sciences Po also included a meeting with Indonesian students currently studying there. The session featured a seminar and discussion on the latest political developments in Indonesia, covering political dynamics, democratic developments, and contemporary challenges facing the country.
Overall, the two-day visit on September 7–8, 2026, generated several strategic cooperation opportunities to be followed up, ranging from research collaboration, joint publications, joint supervision, faculty and education staff exchanges, student exchanges, and visiting scholar programs to doctoral study opportunities for UNDIP faculty members supported by LPDP scholarships.
The initiative forms part of UNDIP’s ongoing strategy to expand partnerships with leading international universities and research centers. Strengthening its network with Sciences Po and CERI is expected not only to enhance UNDIP’s international visibility but also to generate concrete, sustainable, and impactful academic collaborations that contribute to research development, human resource capacity building, and the acceleration of Universitas Diponegoro’s internationalization.
