UNDIP Rector Receives Visit from Lemhannas RI in Domestic Strategic Study Program

UNDIP, Semarang (April 23) – The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., welcomed the Strategic Domestic Study Visit (Studi Strategis Dalam Negeri / SSDN) participants of the National Leadership Preparation and Strengthening Program (Pendidikan Penyiapan dan Pemantapan Pimpinan Nasional / P4N) Batch LXVIII for Fiscal Year 2025. The participants were from the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lembaga Ketahanan Nasional Republik Indonesia / Lemhannas RI). The event took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, Tembalang Campus, Semarang.

In his opening remarks, Rector Prof. Suharnomo expressed his appreciation and pride for the visit from Lemhannas RI. He emphasized UNDIP’s commitment to being a university that upholds dignity and serves the nation.

“A university must be a space for dialectical ideas, open to ideological, political, social, and cultural discourse within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia. We aspire for this campus to be both an oasis and the final stronghold of national intellectual pride. No single party should monopolize the truth—truth must be sought openly. We welcome diverse thoughts because developed nations are typically open to a range of ideas for the sake of national progress,” said the Rector.

He also highlighted UNDIP’s concrete contributions to societal challenges, such as water desalination technology currently implemented in Jepara, Sayung (Demak), Blora, and Pekalongan regencies, and D’Ozone technology to support farmers in maintaining vegetable quality, now operating in 12 locations. He stressed that the ultimate goal of UNDIP’s academic activities is to benefit society.

“UNDIP is committed to supporting the Jawa Tengah Provincial Government in poverty alleviation. Hopefully, these technologies can continue to be improved and have a positive impact,” he added.

“A university should not be an ivory tower detached from real-world problems. That’s why we engage directly with the community. Knowledge is important, but what’s more important is its benefit. Being smart matters, but what’s more important is empathy and morality, which grows alongside society. We hope UNDIP’s spirit can serve as a seed of goodness for our nation,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

Representing the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Laksda TNI Sawa, S.E., M.M., CIQaR, Expert Lecturer in Geopolitics and National Insight at Lemhannas RI, expressed appreciation for UNDIP’s support in hosting SSDN P4N Batch LXVIII in 2025. He noted that the P4N program is a concrete effort to prepare national leaders with comprehensive insight and a statesmanlike character.

“Lemhannas RI is tasked with developing and preparing national leadership candidates who think comprehensively, holistically, integratively, and professionally—leaders who possess national ethics, a statesmanlike character, and the capacity to solve problems on national, regional, and global levels,” said Laksda Sawa.

He added that P4N Batch LXVIII carries the theme: “Enhancing National Leadership Capacity to Support Asta Cita in Realizing Golden Indonesia 2045.” This theme aligns with the vision of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Lemhannas RI expects participants to foster cross-sector collaboration and adapt to the dynamics of global change.

“Future leaders, including P4N LXVIII participants, must be able to build synergy with all elements of the nation—regional governments, the military, police, civil servants, academics, private sector, and civil society—in the face of change. This synergy is essential in shaping modern, reliable, and professional leadership,” he explained.

The visit continued with an academic presentation by the UNDIP expert team, represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Puryono KS, M.P., under the theme “The Role of Universitas Diponegoro in Strategic Studies on the Five Aspects of National Resilience.” Prof. Sri Puryono emphasized UNDIP’s role as a house of knowledge, a hub of national values, a driver of grassroots economy, and a guardian of social harmony. By integrating social sciences and hard sciences, UNDIP serves as a strategic civil actor in strengthening national resilience.

The visit was part of the broader SSDN agenda organized by Lemhannas RI over three days, from April 22 to 24, 2025, spanning four provinces: Banten, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, and Yogyakarta. The P4N Batch LXVIII delegation consisted of 28 participants from various backgrounds, including the Indonesian Army (6), Navy (4), Air Force (3), National Police (7), Civil Servants (3), Non-Civil Servants (3), and international participants from India and Jordan (2).

The visit served as a forum for sharing ideas, strengthening collaboration, and broadening participants’ perspectives on the vital role of universities as strategic partners in sustainable national development.
