Eazy Passport: First in Semarang, UNDIP Program Eases Passport Processing for the Academic Community

Mobility is closely linked to the rapid advancement of technology and changes in lifestyle in this digital era. To accommodate the ease of mobility for the academic community, the Diponegoro International Office (DIO) collaborated with Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Semarang to organize the Eazy Passport event on 24th-25th September 2024 at Prof. Soedarto, S.H. Building, UNDIP, Semarang. The Eazy Passport program offers convenience in the process of applying for and renewing passports for students, staff, and faculty members within the UNDIP community. A total of 185 participants took part in this batch of the Eazy Passport program.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Collaboration, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., expressed, “As the Vice Rector for Collaboration, I encourage all academic members to go abroad and gain international experience. It is important to have a passport first, as it serves as a motivation to travel abroad.” According to Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., there are many opportunities for studying and gaining experience overseas, especially for students, such as the IISMA program. In line with UNDIP’s vision to become an excellent research university, one of the indicators is mobility.

The Head of DIO UNDIP, Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., L.L.M., explained that the collaboration between UNDIP and the Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Semarang was initiated directly by DIO UNDIP. “We did not expect that the number of applicants would exceed the initial quota of 100 people. Hopefully, this will be the starting point or initiation of an Immigration Corner at UNDIP, with programs such as new passport counseling or other initiatives in collaboration with immigration. Additionally, Eazy Passport could become a sustainable program held every two or three months,” Pulung Widhi said.

A representative from Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Semarang, Muhammad Tirta Mandala, appreciated UNDIP for initiating the collaboration for the Eazy Passport program. “This is the first time the Immigration Office has collaborated with a university in Semarang. We also thank you for the opportunity to work together in the future through the establishment of an immigration service unit. This encourages a stronger synergy, synergy for the nation”. Muhammad Tirta Mandala hopes that this collaboration will bring progress to both parties.

The two-day Eazy Passport program addressed the academic community’s needs for passport processing comprehensively. A number of registered participants had completed their registration in August. With a focus on efficiency in immigration matters, Eazy Passport plays a significant role in shaping UNDIP’s academic community into a global society.  (Titis – Public Relations)
